No.1 Seed Eliminated In Men’s C; Three-seed In Championship Game
In the Men’s Class C tournament, No. 1 seed Gas House/US Lawns was eliminated from the competition after losing two games Saturday. Gas House lost 12-2 to No. 4 Softball Express then fell 16-6 to No. 2 Pope Transport/M&L/Commission/Shockers. With two wins, third seeded West Coast Blaze/Swegs/Sanchos/Easton awaits the winner of the Pope Transport and Softball Express semifinal, to be played at 8 a.m. Sunday. Behind a three RBI performance from Rego Nieto, who went 2-for-2 with one run scored, West Coast defeated Pope Transport 9-2. In the sixth, Nieto hit a two run blast to right field, scoring Ricky Hoy, who singled to centerfield then advanced on the throw. Hoy contributed two RBI with the single. Despite an eight RBI performance from Softball Express’ Ricky Hayes, who had a grand slam home run and a three run homer, West Coast escaped the nightcap with an 18-17. Cory Trepanier led Pope in their nightcap with four RBI, three coming from a homer to left center in the third. Pope Transport was also led by Daniel Jordan, 4-for-4 with three runs scored, Ryan Kvasnicka, 4-for-4 with four runs scored and three RBI, and Steven Briggs, who went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI.
