Outreach and Communications Intern - Part Time, Hourly

The National Governing Body of Olympic weightlifting under the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee is seeking an enthusiastic student with a multi-disciplined skillset to assist, support and strengthen the national headquarters of USA Weightlifting by working closely with the Outreach and Communications department of the organization. An intern with USA Weightlifting will gain practical experience that parallels academic study and fosters strong working relationships in the sports industry.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the communications department with content creation and management
  • Assist the communications department with executing social media strategy
  • Field and route requests from the media
  • Assist with administrative support at national events
  • Assist with outreach assignments relating to athlete recruitment, high school and growth programs
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, Power Point & Outlook
  • Passion for business, sport and the ideals of the Olympic Movement
  • Excellent communication and human relations skills with the understanding of business processes.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S.

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT:

  • Standard office equipment
  • Microsoft suite and Google Suite
  • Proficiency with social media, internet search capabilities, usage of telecommunications equipment
  • Proficiency with graphics software, not required

CONDITIONS:

  • Dynamic, open office environment in multi-story building at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Sport House
  • Business casual environment
  • 80% remote office environment
