2022 Paralympic Athlete Funding Criteria (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2022)


 

  • Athletes will qualify for Athlete Stipends and EAHI based on overall point totals from the current IBSA point ranking rosters (based on the quarterly IBSA point rankings review period) as outlined in the pay scale below:

  • Payments to be made quarterly and processed the last week of: February, May, August & November.

  • All quarterly payments to be determined by the 15th of the month and based on IBSA Ranking per below:

    • Top US IBSA point earner as of the review date - $2000 / quarter

    • Second highest US IBSA point earner as of the review date - $1500 / quarter

    • Third highest US IBSA point earner as of the review date - $1000 / quarter

    • All eligible athletes must maintain a Top-15 IBSA Ranking

    • Discretionary Support: Under the discretion and approval of USA Judo’s Para High Performance Committee and USOPC (Paralympics) one athlete may receive athlete support for specific USOPC resources (stipends and/or EAHI) at any point during the timeframe outlined above if the athlete has been injured in the last 12 months and/or if the athlete has switched weight classes in the last 12 months. This athlete will be eligible for a $500 payment for the designated pay period.

  • Until the time that an IBSA Ranking event has been contested, USOPC will extend the criteria that was applied for the final 2021 athlete stipend payment which was focused on athletes who qualified for the Paralympic Team.

2022 Paralympic Athlete EAHI Criteria

January 1 – December 31, 2022

  • January 1- June 30: Athletes named to the 2020 Paralympic Team will maintain EAHI eligibility if they are actively training and competing with the intent to qualify for the 2024 Paralympic Games.

  • July 1- Dec. 31: Any athlete ranked in the Top-10 of the IBSA Rankings, as of July 1st, will be eligible for EAHI. These criteria will be used only if an IBSA Ranking Tournament has occurred in 2022.

    • In regard to the July 1st criteria, if no IBSA Ranking events have occurred, the first bullet criteria will be applied with discretionary selection of up to 3 additional athletes recommended by the Para Judo High Performance Committee with approval from the USOPC Para High Performance contact.
