USA Men's Over 50 team beats Wales to reach World Cup Quarterfinals

After recording the USA Masters first-ever victory with a win over Egypt, the USA Men's Over 50 went into a must-win game against Wales with the prize of securing a place in the quarterfinals.USA scored the first goal after flowing forward movement finished with Ian Tapsall rolling a through pass to Jeremy Roberts who found Ian Wagge on the penalty flick spot. Ian buried the chance for a 1-0 lead. On the stroke of halftime, Andrew Dunning drove into the circle and was fouled, setting up an extended play corner.

The USA Men's Masters Over-40 Team closed out the 2014 World Cup with a hard-fought 5-3 victory over Wales, catapulting the Americans to a 9th place finish after winning the final three games of the tournament. For the third consecutive day, 1996 Olympian Ahmed Elmagrabhy (Ledgewood, Ill.) notched a hat trick, giving him nine goals in six games.

The USA Men's Masters over-40 team secured their second consecutive victory with a 5-2 victory over Italy today. The Americans were led in scoring for the second consecutive game by 1996 Olympian Ahmed Elmagrabhy (Ledgewood, Ill.), who notched a hat trick for the second day in a row.

The USA men's over-40 masters team used an offensive barrage in the second half to open up a tight game and earn a 6-2 victory over Ghana as the teams began crossovers in Rotterdam. Paced by five goals from 1996 Olympians Ahmed Elmaghraby (Ledgewood, Ill.) and Ben Maruquin (Ventura, Calif.), the USA scored four in the second half and held Ghana off the board for the final 44 minutes of the game to take the three points.
Over-50 Men's Squad Secures First U.S. Masters Victory of World Cup

Today was a great day in the Netherlands for the USA Field Hockey teams. The U.S. Men’s Over-50 squad notched the first ever USA Masters victory as they defeated Egypt. Jeremy Roberts (Beltsville, M.D.), who had sat out the first two games with a broken thumb, found an orthopedic surgeon playing in the tournament who told him to cut off the cast and give it a try. This was great news for the U.S. as Roberts scored the first USA goal.

The USA Men's Over-40 Masters team put together another solid defensive effort and held Australia to one goal, including keeping them off of the scoreboard for the final 61 minutes. The Kookaburra’s single strike off of a penalty corner rebound came in the ninth minute, and the Aussies were able to hold on for the victory.

Paced by 12 saves from 1996 Olympian Steve Wagner (Philadelphia, Pa.) and a solid defensive back line, the USA Men's Over-40 Masters team stood toe-to-toe against South Africa in the opening game of the 2014 FIH Masters World Cup in Rotterdam, Netherlands. The Americans held the South Africans off of the board for the final 45 minutes of the game and pulled within one in the final seconds, but time ran out and South Africa took the three points with a 2-1 victory.
