2022 World Triathlon Long Distance and Aquathlon Championships

The 2022 World Triathlon Long Distance and Aquathlon Championships will take place August 18-21, 2022 in Samorin, Slovakia.

Disciplines that will take place at this event:

- Aquathlon – 1km swim / 5km run
- Long Distance Triathlon – 2km swim / 80km bike / 18km run
- Long Distance Aquabike – 2km swim / 80km bike

The World Championships will be hosted in conjunction with the second Collins Cup hosted by the Professional Triathletes Organization. The event will be held at the x-bionic® sphere. The x-bionic® sphere is a multipurpose complex with an area over 100 hectares and one of the most remarkable facilities of its kind in Europe and the world. It includes a hotel, restaurants, parks and sports venues including x-bionic® aquatic sphere (50m outdoor and 25m indoor pools, three pools for children, four water slides), wellness, x-bionic® equestrian sphere, gym, athletics stadium, multifunctional indoor hall, gymnastics hall and more.

Due to the conflict with Ultra Distance Nationals and Slovakia Worlds, athletes that complete the Long Course race in Slovakia will be eligible to auto qualify for Worlds in Ibiza in 2023. 

 

 

Samorin 2022 Travel Information

Hotel Registration (link: https://cvent.me/yvKWAq) is now open for the 2022 World Triathlon Long Distance, Aquabike and Aquathlon Championships in Slovakia for Team USA. We have a small block of rooms at the main venue, X-Bionic Sphere. We also have a block of rooms at the Radisson Blu in Bratislava (20 minutes from venue). We have a limited number of rooms at each hotel!

We highly encourage our Team USA members to book their travel through Andavo Meetings & Incentives, as USAT works very closely with them to create these packages. This is how you can best interact with fellow team members and have the best access to the Team USA Support Staff.

Samorin 2022 Qualification Information

2022 Qualification:

**Athletes that were slated to compete in Townsville, Australia in Long Course Triathlon, Long Course Aquabike, or Aquathlon, spots were automatically rolled over to Slovakia due to the cancellation of Townsville**

General Qualification:

  1. World Podium: Any athlete who places 1-3 in their age group at a world championship will automatically qualify for the respective world championship the following year.
  2. National Championships: The remaining world championship slots are allocated to athletes who compete in the respective national championship and finish in the top 18 per age group/gender and rolling down to 30th place.
  3. Rankings: If slots are still available, any athlete who finished in the aged up age group top twenty in their age group in the USA Triathlon year end (12/31) rankings will be considered for slots on the team starting with the highest ranked athlete having first option to accept followed by 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc., (through 20th) until we have reached the first two athletes who accept the slot or until we reach spot 20.
