Standard Duathlon Training Plan
**Due to the date conflict with Romania Cross Triathlon/Duathlon Worlds and USA Off- Roads Nationals, any athlete who competes in 2022 World Triathlon Cross Triathlon OR Cross Duathlon Worlds in Targu Mures, and finishes the Worlds race, will automatically qualify respectively for 2023 Cross Triathlon or Cross Duathlon Worlds (Ibiza, Spain).
Hotel Registration isnow open for the 2022 World Triathlon Multisport Championships in Targu Mures, Romania for Team USA. Team USA will primarily be housed at the Apollo Hotel & Wellness Club. The Team USA support staff will be located at the Apollo Hotel & Wellness Club as well. We also have rooms at Hotel Continental in the city center. In additional to the hotel package, you have the option to add airport transfers, flight bookings and optional activities in Romania.
We highly encourage our Team USA members to book their travel through Andavo Meetings & Incentives, as USAT works very closely with them to create these packages. This is how you can best interact with fellow team members and have the best access to the Team USA Support Staff. Travel to events with confidence in 2022, with our "Travel Like a Pro" resources, the latest addition to USA Triathlon's comprehensive Safe Return to Multisport initiative. Developed by medical experts in partnership with USA Triathlon, the documents outline race-week infection prevention measures and checklists for air travel, ground transportation, accommodations, meals and dining, and more. As always, be sure to check the travel advisories of countries traveling to and/or through.
2022 Qualification:
**Athletes that were slated to compete in Townsville, Australia in Cross Triathlon, Sprint Duathlon, and Standard Duathlon, spots were automatically rolled over to Targu Mures due to the cancellation of Townsville**General Qualification:
- World Podium: Any athlete who places 1-3 in their age group at a world championship will automatically qualify for the respective world championship the following year.
- National Championships: The remaining world championship slots are allocated to athletes who compete in the respective national championship and finish in the top 18 per age group/gender and rolling down to 30th place.
- Rankings: If slots are still available, any athlete who finished in the aged up age group top twenty in their age group in the USA Triathlon year end (12/31) rankings will be considered for slots on the team starting with the highest ranked athlete having first option to accept followed by 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc., (through 20th) until we have reached the first two athletes who accept the slot or until we reach spot 20.
