USA Triathlon hires new High Performance General Manager
U.S. elite triathlete Taylor Spivey (Redondo Beach, Calif.) finished fourth on Saturday to lead the charge for the U.S. at the 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series Hamburg.
The U.S. won 10 total medals across six sport categories in the second stop of the 2022 Para Series that featured 15 U.S. elite paratriathletes.
Seven U.S. elite triathletes will race in the 2022 World Triathlon Championship Series Hamburg and Mixed Relay events this Saturday and Sunday and 15 U.S. elite paratriathletes will compete in the 2022 World Triathlon Para Series Montreal on Friday, kicking off an exciting three days of elite triathlon racing.
In addition, as part of USA Triathlon’s 2022 Return to Racing Youth Stimulus Package, race entry is free for all 15-19 year-old athletes at the Toyota Legacy Triathlon July 15-17 in Long Beach, California. USA Triathlon is also hosting a free Youth Splash & Dash at the Toyota USA Triathlon Age Group National Championships Aug. 5-7 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The 2022 USA Triathlon Club National Championships will be run as part of the PTO US Open age-group event, with athletes wishing to be part of the club championships simply selecting their club during the registration process. The PTO US Open will also host the $1M pro race, set to feature 80 of the top professionals in the PTO World Rankings plus 10 wildcard performers, and which will be the climax to the first-ever PTO Tour season.
The event at the proposed site of the triathlon competitions for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Los Angeles 2028 includes the Toyota USA Triathlon Paratriathlon National Championships and Americas Cup Long Beach.
The U.S. has long had international success in the Mixed Relay event — winning silver at the 2020 Mixed Relay World Championships, bronze in 2018, silver in 2017 and the world title in 2016. The U.S. elite team also won silver at last summer’s Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 in the Mixed Relay’s Olympic Games debut.
U.S. elite triathletes Summer Rappaport (Thornton, Colo.) and Taylor Spivey (Redondo Beach, Calif.) placed fifth and sixth, respectively, at Saturday’s World Triathlon Championship Series Montreal, which featured the unique and exciting “eliminator” format of super-sprint racing.
