2019 Youth National Championships
Olympic Training Center FAQ

USA Judo is very excited to host the 2019 Youth National Championships at the Colorado Springs Olympic Training Center. Per USOC Policies the OTC will send an email to all athletes, coaches, referees and volunteers containing waivers that are required. The emails will be sent every Friday until March 1st from Michigan Trunkel or Allison Collins. Please submit the waivers as soon as possible. If necessary waivers can be completed at the OTC, doing so may significantly delay your registration. Please complete before the championship if at all possible. The average time to complete the waiver packet is approximately 10 minutes.

  1. Why is USA Judo requiring so many documents?

The waivers are a USOC requirement to access the Olympic Training Center and is nonnegotiable.

  2. Who is Michigan Trunkel or Allison Collins?

Michigan and Allison are members of the ops staff at the OTC.  The waivers will always come from the online signing system called “Assure Sign”. The subject line will read “JUDO Youth National Championships-participant name”.

  3. Who is required to complete the waivers? What is included in the required waivers?

Anyone that is participating in the event as an athlete, staff, volunteer (working in a capacity that requires access to the dining hall or anywhere else athletes may be), or a coach will be required to fill out the online waiver and SafeSport paperwork(for non-athletes only).

  4. Are the waivers different for athletes, coaches, referees and volunteers?

Yes, each set is different and the link in the email is unique to the person receiving it. Please fill out the forms that were sent to you.

  5. Can I fill out the waivers at the OTC?

Yes, you may complete the forms at check in. Please however complete the waivers in advance as we are anticipating a long line at the USOC’s waiver check-in desk.

  6. How often is an email reminder sent out to complete and submit the waivers?

Reminders are sent 5 days, 3 days, and 1 day prior to the expiration date.

  7. If we have some athletes who walk up and had already started the waivers, will they be able start where they left off? At home and at the venue?

Yes, they will be able to continue where they left off.

  8. I am not a minor so why am I getting a form about minors staying at the USOC?

The reason you have received the email about minors is because you are listed in a minors profile as the main email. Please remember all waivers much be complete by the minor and their parents/legal guardians.

  9. I have already completed SafeSport so why am I getting this form again?

If you have completed SafeSport you have met all requirements. Please complete and continue.

  10. I've already completed a background check so why am I getting an individual disclosure form?

You are not required to get another background check. Please complete the disclosure and continue.

  11. Why do I have to sign a report from the USOC Training Center about an arrest within 24 hours?  I don't train there so why would I report anything to the USOC Training Center?

The athletes are competing at the OTC. Per their risk management policy the OTC needs to be aware of any and all issues that may have happened before competing.

  12. Can I download a copy of the documents I just signed?

Once finished you will have the option to print a PDF copy for your records.

  13. Where is the competition and parking?
  14. Parking is very limited. Please try to carpool to the championship. Enter the Olympic Training Center through the guard gate on Boulder Street. Parking is next to the OTC Visitor Center and behind Sport Center 1. The competition, check-in and weigh-ins are all in Sport Center 1 located in the center of the Olympic Training Center.
