Basic-G is a CDC-recommended powerful germicide for use on non-porous surfaces that has been found to be effective against COVID-19. It's at a great price point and makes 64 gallons of cleaning solution per 1-quart container. If it is used on non-porous materials the risk of the cleaner degrading judo mats is minimal, however as with bleach, ammonia-based products or any other chemical, there is the potential for residue to remain on or in the material. Since mats come in contact with skin, a best practice is to rinse or wipe down the surface with water after the cleaning solution is applied. Shaklee has several gym partners who have used Basic G on mats, punching bags, medicine balls, and rubber weights for more than 5 years and have been happy with the results.
