GEORGETOWN, Guyana - October 20, 2017 - The U.S. Women's National Indoor Team punched their ticket into the 2017 women's Indoor Pan American Cup final following a 4-1 win over FIH Hero Indoor World Ranked No. 9 Canada. The win keeps USA undefeated in the tournament as they prepare for a rematch against No. 13 Argentina. The winner of the match will clinch a spot in the FIH Indoor World Cup this coming February in Berlin, Germany.

Goalkeeper Samantha Carlino (Kennett Square, Pa.) pulled off a series of fine saves as both squads battled evenly in the early stages of the game. Canada and USA traded penalty corners before Ali Campbell (Boyertown, Pa.) broke the deadlock putting the USA up 1-0 in the 15th minute. Captain Alison Lee tied the game for Canada with the team's next penalty corner in the 18th minute. With time running out in the first half, Campbell stepped up to convert USA’s next penalty corner, giving USA the 2-1 lead heading into the break.

The tactical game continued in the second half with both teams going close. The score remained at 2-1 in favor of USA until the 31st minute when Campbell completed the hat-trick, converting on a penalty corner to give USA the 3-1 advantage. USA defended well while killing off a 2-minute yellow card issued to Sammy Popper (Blue Bell, Pa.) before Mary Beth Barham (Fairfax, Va.) scored to close out the game with just over two minutes remaining. Paityn Wirth (Thompsontown, Pa.) battled her way out of a double team on the left board, passed to Barham who rounded a defender and placed the ball past the Canadian goalkeeper Kathryn Williams for the 4-1 win.
“I was pleased with how we defended today," said Jun Kentwell, Indoor USWNT Head Coach. "This was a difficult game. We need to see our outlet passes a little earlier.”

The Indoor USWNT will face No. 13 Argentina tomorrow at 5:35 p.m. ET in the championship game. For more information about the 2017 women’s Indoor Pan American Cup, including event schedule, results and live stream, visit the IPAC Event Page. #IPAC2017
