Jecko first started playing field hockey because her and her twin both wanted to be soccer goalkeepers. Her twin continued playing soccer, so Jecko switched to field hockey. After talking to a few people that played, she decided to give it a try. Still inspired by aspects of soccer, Abby Wambach, U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team has been an inspiration for Jecko growing up. She heard this quote from Abby her freshman year of college, and it has stayed with Jecko: “Motivation is internal, and motivation has to happen on a continuum, you have to continually motivate yourself to go out and push yourself beyond your own limitations.” Jecko now looks to push her own limits as one of the newest members of the USWNT.
