I chose University of Kansas because it was an exceptional school for sports management. I enjoyed being a student-athlete because we had the opportunity to get classes before others, as well as the rigorous group study schedule after practice.
The rigid schedule for both sport and academics made it easy transition for me into the U.S. Army.
College helped me prepare for my military career, as well as working within the civilian sector after retirement. I was able to juggle my workouts along with civilian employment. Since 2014, I have retired completely, and focus solely on training. Being a former collegiate athlete and retired Army soldier has enabled me to treat my training as a job, keeping to a rigorous schedule of riding, lifting and recovery.
