World records were broken, droughts were ended, firsts achieved and much more as Team USA had a day full of historic performances in archery, boxing, equestrian, fencing, shooting, swimming, tennis, and track and field. With 12 medals added, Team USA continues to lead the medal count with 49 medals — 12 more than second-place China — and is now three golds away from 1,000 all-time summer golds.
